Four Corners: Multiculturalism in Canadian Graphic Design

Four Corners: Multiculturalism in Canadian Graphic Design was held on June 18, 2025. Majid Abbasi (AGI, IGDS) was one of the speakers at this symposium, presented by the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts at the Goethe-Institut Toronto. The event also featured designers Udo Schliemann (RGD, RCA), Kyung Park (RCA), and Stüssy Tschudin (RGD, RCA) — all of whom began their careers abroad but chose Toronto, Canada, as their new home to continue their creative journeys. Each of them has made a significant contribution to Canada’s design landscape and shared insights into their background, education, and practice, while also reflecting on the challenges they faced as newcomers.

Majid also led an Iranian Typography Workshop on Saturday, June 21, which introduced the Persian-Arabic script from a typographic perspective. The workshop began with learning and writing in Farsi, and concluded with participants designing a typographic composition using their names and the name of the city they live in.
