Opal Shopping Center

This project occupies a significant land area and consists of a 14-story above-ground structure, complemented by seven underground levels. It encompasses more than 850 units, featuring a diverse range of establishments, from retail spaces and a hypermarket to a recreation center, car showroom, and diverse dining options, including food courts and coffee shops.
This building has a layout complexity and the maze-like plan of architecture requires the creation and installation of a variety of signage elements, including Ceiling-Suspended, Wall-Attached, Ground-Level, and Directory wayfinding Signs. These signs are essential to ensure effective wayfinding and communication throughout the facility. To address this, a distinctive bilingual signage and Wayfinding System has been implemented, assisting individuals in determining their location, desired destinations, and optimal routes for navigation.

This signage and wayfinding project presents a unique challenge arising from an underdeveloped brand identity marked by inconsistent forms and color standards. This was my challenge!
To address this, the concept juncture on brand-based pictograms, carefully created to expand from the brand’s logo. These branded pictograms feature brand-colored paths and outlined forms, capturing the essence of human body forms and other essential objects, adding a distinct visual element to the signage.

The legibility of these forms is a primary focus, with careful consideration of strokes and pastel color palettes to ensure clarity and effectiveness. At the same time, carefully selecting typefaces through a type-matching system, I’ve created a bilingual wayfinding system in both Farsi and Latin. This ensures seamless integration of both languages, making navigation within the Shopping Center easy and consistent.
